Assemblywoman Angela McKnight (D-Hudson) will participate in the Curlpalooza Natural Hair Festival in Newark on Saturday to celebrate natural hair, community and culture.
The event at the Hahnes Building will feature hair demos, mega artisan marketplace, workshops, hair consultations, discounts to restaurants, live DJ, gallery exhibits and dance performances.
McKnight will speak about her legislation (A-5564) that would prohibit discrimination on the basis of hair under New Jersey’s “Law Against Discrimination.”
“It’s so important for everyone – particularly women of color – to take time to celebrate their natural hair,” said McKnight. “I’m thrilled to join women across New Jersey in recognizing the beauty of natural hair and embracing who we are.”
