Vainieri Huttle & Buono to Join With Fort Lee Students & Advocates to Promote Start of New Law and Unveil New Anti-Bullying Initiative

Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle and Senate Majority Leader Barbara Buono will join with Fort Lee High School students on Tuesday to mark the start of the new school year by celebrating the official commencement of the landmark “Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights.”

The event will take place on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at 10:15 am on the front lawn of Fort Lee High School, 3000 Lemoine Ave, Fort Lee, NJ.

In addition to students from Fort Lee High School, Vainieri Huttle and Buono will be joined by Jennifer Ehrentraut, the cousin of Tyler Clementi, who will unveil a new anti-bullying initiative in cooperation with Garden State Equality. Also on hand will be Dr. Stuart Green, Director of the New Jersey Coalition for Bullying Awareness and Prevention, and Dr. Raymond Bandlow, Fort Lee Superintendent of Schools.

The legislation, viewed as one of the most comprehensive anti-bullying measures in the country, was signed into law in January, however it takes effect at the start of this school year. Vainieri Huttle and Buono, the lead sponsors of the law, hope to inspire students and faculty to embrace a bully-free school culture.
