** MEDIA ADVISORY: EVENT CANCELLATION** Due to the lingering effects of Saturday’s snow storm, the following event has been postponed.

As NJ After 3 programs prepare to shutdown statewide on Monday, Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle will join with Bergen Family Center to highlight the impact that Gov. Christie’s defunding of the after-school program will have on countless families in Bergen County, as well as throughout New Jersey.

The event will take place on Monday, October 31, at 11 a.m. at Bergen Family Center, 44 Armory Street, Englewood, NJ.

Vainieri Huttle will be joined by Mitch Schonfeld, President and CEO of Bergen Family Center, which runs Englewood’s NJ After 3 Program, as well as parents of the children that will be impacted by the elimination of this program.

New Jersey After 3 is a statewide network of afterschool programs in urban, suburban and rural school districts that provides safe and constructive activities from 3-6 p.m. weekdays for the children of working families. Despite the demonstrated success of the program in boosting student achievement levels and using state funds to leverage private dollars, the Christie administration has defunded the program, forcing it to cease operating statewide on Monday.
