***MEDIA ADVISORY — SATURDAY*** CONNERS SELECTED AS 2011 PARADE MARSHAL OF THE ANNUAL NJ VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS PARADE

(TRENTON) — Assembly Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman Jack Conners has been selected to be the parade marshal of the New Jersey Veterans of Foreign Wars (NJ VFW) annual parade in Wildwood.

“It is a singular honor to be selected by the VFW to lead this year’s celebration honoring the brave men and women of New Jersey who have fought to protect our freedoms,” said Conners (D-Burlington/Camden), a former Army National Guardsman and Army Reservist. “With the U.S. engaged in three wars, it is more important than ever to bring attention to the courage, commitment and sacrifices made daily by our veterans on our behalf.”

The VFW parade is scheduled to be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 21st & Atlantic Avenues, North Wildwood, 08260.

The parade route will proceed south along Atlantic Avenue, ending at Andrews Avenue in Wildwood. The reviewing stand will be located at Memory Lane — Atlantic & Montgomery Avenue at Davis Avenue in Wildwood.
