Assembly Members DeAngelo, Greenstein, Conaway & Conners to Honor Local Chef for Winning Bravo TV’s ‘Top Chef: Washington D.C.’

(TRENTON) — During Thursday’s General Assembly Voting Session, New Jersey’s own local chef Kevin Sbraga will be honored and presented with a Ceremonial Resolution commemorating his recent victory on Bravo TV’s “Top Chef: Washington D.C.”

Chef Sbraga has been the executive chef at Hamilton Township’s well-known Rat’s Restaurant in the Grounds for Sculpture and lives in Willingboro, New Jersey. Sbraga was named the winner during the season seven finale of the Emmy award winning “Top Chef,” which aired on September 15, 2010, but was previously taped in the Singapore.

Assembly members DeAngelo and Greenstein said they were proud to spearhead the effort to honor Sbraga before the Assembly, given the local widespread notoriety of his masterful cooking.

“Area diners have raved about the food at Rat’s, created by Chef Sbraga, who has now received the recognition he deserves for his masterful creations enjoyed by so many. His victory on ‘Top Chef’ is truly a testament to his dedication and hard work in creating tremendous food for restaurant goers,” said Assemblyman Wayne P. DeAngelo (D-Hamilton), who represents the 14th Legislative District where Rat’s Restaurant is located.

“New Jersey has some of the finest restaurants and chefs in the country so it’s no surprise that our local star chef shined on ‘Top Chef.’ We are extraordinarily proud of Chef Sbraga for showing millions of ‘Top Chef’ fans how talented he is and all that New Jersey’s restaurant community has to offer,” said Assemblywoman Linda R. Greenstein (D-Plainsboro), who also represents the 14th District.

The ceremonial resolution will be presented to Sbraga at the start of the Assembly Voting Session, 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 30, 2010 in the General Assembly Chambers, 125 West State St., Trenton, NJ 08690.

“We are proud of Chef Kevin Sbraga for his recent victory on ‘Top Chef’ and wish him all the luck and continued success as he establishes his dream restaurant. Winning this competition over 16 talented chefs from across the country not only proves what a talent and rising star Kevin is in the culinary world, but New Jersey is home to some of the best chefs in the country,” said Assemblyman Herb Conaway (D-Delran), who represents the 7th Legislative District where Sbraga and his family reside.

“I am very happy for Kevin Sbraga and his family, in having been named this years ‘Top Chef’. He is a proud example of the success that can be achieved through hard work, perseverance and sacrifice. I am proud to join in honoring him today along with the New Jersey General Assembly, and wish him continued success in his pursuit for culinary excellence and a great dining experience in the New Jersey,” said Assemblyman Jack Conners (D-Pennsauken), who also represents the 7th Legislative District.
