*** MONDAY ASSEMBLY ADVISORY ***

(TRENTON) – The Assembly on Monday will hold its last voting session of the legislative session. The session is slated to begin at 1 p.m.

Highlights include bills to:
· Establish measures to deter steroid use among students (A-2454). It’s sponsored by Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Bergen), Albert Coutinho, Grace Spencer and Ralph Caputo (all D-Essex) and Elease Evans (D-Passaic/Bergen).
· Prohibit new employees of lobbying associations from enrolling in the taxpayer-funded state pension and benefits system (A-2499). It’s sponsored by Paul Moriarty (D-Gloucester/Camden), Peter Barnes (D-Middlesex) and Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Bergen).
· Expand education requirements for special learner’s and examination driving permits to improve teen driver safety (A-3309) It’s sponsored by John Wisniewski (D-Middlesex), Pamela Lampitt (D-Camden) and Albert Coutinho (D-Essex).
· Require services be provided to sexually exploited juveniles and create an affirmative defense for them (A-3700/3934). It’s sponsored by Grace Spencer (D-Essex), Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Bergen), Albert Coutinho (D-Essex), Annette Quijano (D-Union) and Cleopatra Tucker (D-Essex).
· Restrict the use of lawn care pesticides at child care centers, schools, playgrounds and recreational fields (A-3782/3621). It’s sponsored by Connie Wagner and Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Bergen), Annette Quijano (D-Union) and John McKeon and Mila Jasey (both D-Essex).
· Improve investigative findings of child abuse or neglect (A-4109). It’s sponsored by Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Bergen), Ruben J. Ramos Jr. (D-Hudson) and Cleopatra Tucker (D-Essex).
· Create a pilot program to allow horse wagering in taverns and restaurants in Bergen, Hudson, Essex, Passaic, Union, Morris, Somerset, Hunterdon, Warren, Sussex and northern Middlesex and Ocean counties (A-4285). It’s sponsored by John Burzichelli (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland), Ralph Caputo (D-Essex) and Connie Wagner (D-Bergen).
· Eliminate the waiting period for marriage and civil union licenses (A-4366). It’s sponsored by Lou Greenwald (D-Camden), Ralph Caputo (D-Essex) and Annette Quijano (D-Union).
· Allow municipalities, school districts or voters to move the April school elections to November (A-4394). It’s sponsored by Lou Greenwald (D-Camden), Paul Moriarty (D-Gloucester/Camden), Wayne DeAngelo (D-Mercer/Middlesex) and Troy Singleton (D-Burlington/Camden).
· Create the Urban Hope Act to allow nonprofits to build, operate and manage public schools in Camden, Trenton and Newark (A-4426). It’s sponsored by Angel Fuentes (D-Camden/Gloucester) and Troy Singleton (D-Burlington/Camden).
· Prohibit the soliciting of campaign contributions on public property by elective public office candidates and ban people from making contributions to such candidates on public property (A-4432). It’s sponsored by Majority Leader Joe Cryan and Annette Quijano (both D-Union).
· Permit direct wine shipping in New Jersey (A-4436). It’s sponsored by John Burzichelli and Celeste Riley (both D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland) and John Wisniewski (D-Middlesex).
