MOSQUERA SWORN IN AS NEWEST ASSEMBLY MEMBER TO REPRESENT 4TH LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT

Assemblywoman Gabriela Mosquera received the oath of office from Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver on Monday at the Statehouse to become the newest democratic member of the General Assembly.

Mosquera will join Assemblyman Paul Moriarty in representing the 4th Legislative District, which includes: Chesilhurst, Clementon, Gloucester Township, Laurel Springs, Lindenwold, Monroe, Pitman, Washington and Winslow.

“We are excited and honored to finally have Gabby joining us as a member of the General Assembly,” said Oliver (D-Essex/Passaic). “She brings an abundance of institutional knowledge and a fervent commitment to the working families of this state. I know that she will represent her constituents proudly in Trenton.”

“This is truly an honor,” said Mosquera. “Working at the local level, I’ve had the opportunity to learn, first-hand, about the issues that weigh heavily on families in our state. I’m eager to get to work and join my colleagues in creating solutions to ease the burden on the working class men and women of New Jersey.”

Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Mosquera immigrated to the United States at the age of three. Her family first settled in Union City and later moved to North Bergen. She went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from The College of New Jersey and later earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management.

Mosquera’s career in government began as an intern with the Office of Congressman William Pascrell where she dealt with casework ranging from immigration to social security issues. She also interned with the Assembly Democratic Office and, after graduating college, joined the office in a full-time capacity as a Policy Researcher and later a Policy/Operations Assistant. She also served as Director of Policy for former Assemblywoman Nilsa Cruz-Perez of the Fifth Legislative District.

Currently, Mosqera is a resident of Gloucester Township and serves as Chief of Staff to Gloucester Township Mayor David R. Mayer.
