(TRENTON) — Assembly members Daniel R. Benson (D-Mercer/Middlesex) and Connie Wagner (D-Bergen/Passaic) issued a multimedia package Monday in which they discuss Assembly Democrats’ ongoing efforts to improve and expand job growth in New Jersey.

The multimedia package consists of a video of the members’ comments and audio and a transcript of same.

The video can be accessed directly via our website — www.assemblydems.com — or by clicking here.

The audio file is available upon request.

A transcript of comments from Assembly members Benson and Wagner is appended below:

Assemblyman Daniel R. Benson (D-Mercer/Middlesex):
“We continue to have an unemployment rate that is above the national average and continues to lag behind our neighboring states. We need to invest more. These individuals want to work. The jobs may not be there right now because we have not yet completely turned the corner on the economy.”

Assemblywoman Connie Wagner (D-Bergen/Passaic):
“Our ‘Back to Work New Jersey’ bill just makes sense. I’m taking people who are unemployed, giving them skills. It helps business because they’re not paying for it. They’re getting skills while they’re obtaining unemployment. I think this is a bill that makes sense, it’s worked in other states and it’s time we tried it here in New Jersey.”

Benson:
“We’ve been hearing, well, we can’t afford to do more. But I really turn that on its head and say how can we not afford to start creating jobs?”

Wagner:
“I cannot be afraid. I cannot do nothing, because if I do nothing, I get nothing.”
