(TRENTON) — Assembly Budget Committee Chairman Vincent Prieto (D-Hudson) issued a multimedia package Wednesday in which he suggested Gov. Christie stop touting a non-existent “comeback” and focus on the reality of providing real relief to the working class and the poor.

The multimedia package consists of a video of Prieto talking about the need for the governor to move away from pithy soundbites and focus on the real problems of the state and audio and a transcript of same.

The video can be accessed directly via our website – www.assemblydems.com – or by clicking here.

The audio file is available upon request.

A transcript of comments from Budget Chair Prieto is appended below:

Assemblyman Vincent Prieto (D-Hudson), Assembly Budget Committee Chair:
“The revenues being down, actually, it’s something that it’s reality; our unemployment rate is higher than the nation; it’s higher than all the surrounding states.

“And when we talk about the governor’s comeback, it’s something that it’s great for soundbites nationwide, when you talk about 10 percent income tax cut. It sounds great but it only helps the millionaires – the people at the higher end. It doesn’t help the working class. So, we need to get away from those soundbites and come back to reality. It’s not about a national spotlight; it’s about the State of New Jersey.”
