Measure would Transform Foreclosed Properties into Affordable Housing
(TRENTON) — Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore Jerry Green (D-Union) issued a multimedia package Tuesday of remarks he gave at a State House news conference unveiling his legislation to transform foreclosed properties in New Jersey into affordable housing.
Green’s bill (A-2168), the “New Jersey Residential Foreclosure Transformation Act,” would promote the purchasing of foreclosed residential properties from banks and other institutional lenders and dedicating those properties for occupancy as market-rate or affordable housing. Such a move would help improve neighborhoods by helping New Jerseyans occupy housing that otherwise would remain vacant.
