(TRENTON) — Assembly Budget Committee Chairman Louis D. Greenwald (D-Camden) issued a multimedia package Friday commenting on a Wall Street Journal report entitled “Christie Crows About State Job Growth,” while New Jersey is still suffering from an unemployment rate of 9.2 percent.

The multimedia package consists of a video of Greenwald’s remarks and audio and a transcript of same.

The video can be accessed directly via our website — www.assemblydems.com — or by clicking here.

The audio file is available upon request.

A transcript of Greenwald’s remarks is appended below:

“The reality is, the only thing that’s missing is an aircraft carrier and the governor in a jumpsuit with a big banner that says ‘Mission Accomplished.’

“At the end of the day, if you’re one of the 412,000 or more people in New Jersey that are out of work this holiday season, while you’re trying to keep that magic alive for your children and you’re worried about where your next paycheck is going to come from, you don’t feel like the mission has been accomplished.

“If you’re one of… if you’re in a state like New Jersey, where unemployment is still above nine percent, you don’t feel like we have turned the corner in our economic recovery.

“We stand here today with thousands more unemployed than when the governor took office in January.

“The reality of that says we have a lot more work to go and we are nowhere near a finished product or mission that has been accomplished.”
