(LAWRENCEVILLE) — Assemblyman Reed Gusciora (D-Mercer/Hunterdon) issued a multimedia package Thursday, voicing his opinion on the decision by Rutgers University to fire men’s basketball coach Mike Rice, after video of Rice verbally and physically abusing his players were made public.
The multimedia package consists of a video of Assemblyman Gusciora discussing the firing and audio and a transcript of same.

“I think if anyone else in the state had said those words or had displayed that kind of conduct, I think that they would have been terminated.
“So, the fact that it came to light months later, what was the athletic director thinking and what was the process for just a suspension, rather than a termination, after viewing the film.
“I think that we should all look, conduct an investigation, and I hope Rutgers talks to their athletic director and sets some kind of policy on behavior between the coach and their student athletes.”
