Murphy Named New Judiciary Committee Vice-Chair

(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin has named Assemblywoman Carol Murphy as the Assembly Judiciary Committee Vice-Chairwoman.

The committee oversees legislation dealing with capital punishment, civil justice, civil rights, court administration, crime and punishment, juvenile justice, criminal justice and the overall justice system.

“It is such a great honor to serve as the Vice-Chair of the Judiciary Committee, especially at such a critical time when we must be proactive in ensuring the rights of all of New Jersey’s residents, said Murphy (D-Burlington). “It is the responsibility of us as legislators to do our best to make New Jersey a fair and welcoming place to live and to be a national leader in the area of civil rights. I am looking forward to working with my fellow committee-members to continue the excellent work that this Committee is known for.”

In addition to service as Vice-Chair of the Judiciary Committee, Murphy also serves as a member of the Assembly Budget and Financial Institutions and Insurance Committees.

Murphy represents the 7th Legislative District which covers Beverly, Bordentown, Bordentown Township, Burlington, Burlington Township, Cinnaminson, Delanco, Delran, Edgewater Park, Fieldsboro, Florence, Moorestown, Mount Laurel, Palmyra, Riverside, Riverton and Willingboro in Burlington County.
