NEW ASSEMBLY PANEL TO BEGIN REVIEW OF NEW JERSEY’S REGULATORY ENVIRONMENT

(TRENTON) – The newly formed Assembly Regulatory Oversight and Gaming Committee on Monday will begin its work to review New Jersey’s regulatory environment.

The committee will hear testimony from invited speakers concerning the regulatory process in New Jersey and problems it has presented for businesses in the state.

Assemblyman John Burzichelli ((D-Gloucester/Cumberland/Salem) is leading the new committee, which Assembly Speaker Sheila Y. Oliver on Jan. 12 charged with working to ease burdensome business regulations.

“We know we can do better when it comes to the piles of rules and regulations that our businesses have been buried under over the years,” Burzichelli said. “However well-intentioned these regulations have been, clearly they’re not creating an optimal business environment. We’ve heard this concern from our businesses and we’re going to do something about it.”

Monday’s hearing is set for 2 p.m. in Committee Room 13 at the State House Annex in Trenton.

It will be streamed live at http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/media/live_audio.asp.
