Oliver: Port Authority needs a chair who can fend off political pressures

Assembly Speaker Emeritus Sheila Y. Oliver (D-Essex) had the following published Thursday in the Star-Ledger:

Our governor needs to send a nominee to the New Jersey Senate’s Judiciary Committee and, subsequently, to the full Senate for advice and consent, a nominee to serve as the next chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey who can unequivocally demonstrate the ability to guide and lead the Port Authority unfettered politically, with the courage to make decisions not influenced by the political whims of the governors of either state.
