In recognition of Earth Day on Monday, Assemblywomen Nancy Pinkin (D-Middlesex) and Yvonne Lopez (D-Middlesex), who respectively serve as chair and vice-chair of the Assembly Environment and Solid Waste Committee, released the following statement:

“As our one and only home, the Earth must be nurtured and protected. Earth Day serves as an important reminder for us to treat our planet with respect, from protecting wildlife to reducing pollution. Today, all across the globe, an estimated one billion people take part in neighborhood cleanups, tree plantings and other community-enriching activities aimed to make the world a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable place. The Assembly Environmental Committee will take action of its own on Thursday by hosting a hearing on climate change.

“Though it comes just once a year, we should treat every day like Earth Day. The simplest of acts can make a world of difference.”
