Pinkin on Vaping Crisis: “It’s All Hands on Deck Now”

Concerned by the significant increase in vaping among American youth, Vice Chair of the Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee Nancy Pinkin (D-Middlesex) released the following statement:

“I am alarmed by the trend showing that e-cigarette consumption has skyrocketed among high schoolers in recent years and that the number of teens in America using these products today totals to over 3.6 million.

“Counterfeit or not, e-cigarettes and vaping products are absolutely detrimental to the health of our children. Similar to when tobacco products first became available, we have no idea what the long-term health implications of vaping are or what the effects of inhaling heated chemicals over time could mean.

“Tackling misinformation about vaping and restricting access to these products are imperative strategies to effectively combat the problem.

“We have to act before it’s really too late and this epidemic becomes a frightening precursor to an even worse future for public health. It’s all hands on deck now.”
