Pinkin Statement on Offshore Wind Discussion at Thursday’s Assembly Environment and Solid Waste Committee Hearing

(TRENTON) – Assembly Environment and Solid Waste Committee Chairperson Nancy Pinkin (D-Middlesex) issued the following statement on Thursday’s discussion on New Jersey’s offshore wind prospects during the committee hearing:

“I want to thank all those who came to testify today on the pressing need to utilize more offshore wind as a renewable energy source.

“There are a plethora of long-term environmental and economic benefits that the implementation of offshore wind can bring to our great state.

“Not only will offshore wind help us in our dire fight against climate change, but it will also bring countless jobs as it will create an entire industry marked by innovation.

“New Jersey is poised to emerge as a national leader in the green economy, with offshore wind playing a vital role in our necessary transition from dangerous, non-sustainable energy sources.

“I am proud that New Jersey is taking the lead in our efforts to save our environment and create responsible new industries which will serve our communities for years to come.”
