Pintor Marin Praises Murphy Choice of Muoio as State Treasurer

(NEWARK) – Incoming-Assembly Budget Committee Chairwoman Eliana Pintor Marin (D-Essex) released the following statement Wednesday on Gov.-elect Phil Murphy’s nomination of Asw. Elizabeth Maher Muoio (D-Mercer) as the next state treasurer:

“This is great news for New Jersey. While I am saddened that I will no longer work closely with Assemblywoman Muoio as an Assembly colleague, I am excited by this nomination. Governor-elect Murphy has made an outstanding choice. I congratulate Gov.-elect Murphy and Assemblywoman Muoio.
“I’ve worked alongside Liz on the Assembly Budget Committee for a few years now, and have seen first-hand her keen intellect and deep understanding of budget issues. Liz understands the numbers, but above all, she understands how these numbers impact people’s lives. Liz knows a budget isn’t just facts and figures. It’s about compassion for others and making the right decisions based on the right priorities. We need that viewpoint now more than ever.
“I will miss looking to my left and hearing Liz asks questions, but I look forward to working with her in her new role. We have a lot of work ahead, but with Liz Muoio as state treasurer, the people of New Jersey will have a great partner.”
