POU: PLAN TO CUT SCHOOL AID RAISES QUESTIONS

(TRENTON) — Assembly Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nellie Pou (D-Passaic/Bergen) released the following statement Thursday on Gov. Chris Christie’s speech:

“Even amid the worst of the global economic recession, New Jersey remained committed to protecting core New Jersey values like the education for our children.

“Our future depends on the foundation we lay for our children, which is why any plan to cut school aid — as Gov. Christie has done — raises serious questions.

“I fear our commitment to nurturing our children may now be at risk. “But now that we finally have a plan from Gov. Christie, we will begin studying it and try to determine its exact impact on New Jerseyans.”
