POU: TAXPAYER SAVINGS ON THE WAY

(TRENTON) — Assembly Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nellie Pou (D-Passaic/Bergen) released the following statement on Monday after the Assembly approved three pension and benefit reform bills:

“With these votes the Assembly has moved New Jersey a step closer to saving property taxpayers $314 million next fiscal year, and that’s a great thing.

“We’ve also made a smart change that ensures the system can remain sustainable.

“When the day began, these bills saved taxpayers $1 billion in three years.

“At the end of today, these bills will save taxpayers $1 billion in three years.

“Not a penny of difference.

“We have maximized savings for taxpayers and ensured a stable system for public workers. That is good public policy.”
