Prieto Statement on GWB Guilty Plea & Indictments

(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto (D-Hudson/Bergen) released the following statement on Friday:

“This is a troubling day for New Jersey.
“A former top state official has pled guilty, with two others indicted. These are deeply concerning, though those indicted are presumed innocent until proven guilty. I have full faith in the justice system to resolve this matter appropriately, and I hope the process produces answers for the people of New Jersey.
“This is also a reminder of the need to reform the Port Authority, and how the governor was so wrong to reject our bipartisan legislation. That reform effort will continue.
“We know what happened here was a grave threat to public safety and a blatant abuse of government power. It can never be repeated, and I pray lessons have been learned.”
