QUIGLEY: CHRISTIE ELIMINATING ADULT EDUCATION HURTS THOSE WORKING HARDEST TO IMPROVE THEIR LIVES

Assemblywoman Joan M. Quigley (D-Hudson) released the following statement Monday on Gov. Chris Christie’s budget that completely eliminates adult education aid:

“Gov. Christie’s plan to completely eliminate adult education aid is just one of many examples of a short-sighted move that will impact jobs and our economy for years to come. Ensuring quality adult education is available to those who need it not only boosts self-confidence and improves lives, but helps keep our economy in step with ever-expanding global competition by creating a more educated workforce. Adult education is, quite simply, an education and economic development tool. Under Gov. Christie’s budget, we leave adults stranded in programs they couldn’t finish, stagnating not only their hopes and dreams to improve their lives, but our economic development. This is the wrong direction for New Jersey and, quite simply, wrong.”
