Quijano Applauds Advancing of Non-Profit Security Bill in Senate, Bill Protects Residents, Organizations At High-Risk for Attack

(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Annette Quijano (D-Union), who is sponsor of the Assembly version of the bill (A-4253), released the following statement in regards to the passage of the companion bill (S-2634) by the Senate Law and Public Safety committee on Monday:

“In light of recent incidents of hate and desecration of Jewish community centers and burial places occurring throughout the country, this bill is critically important to ensuring the safety of many in New Jersey.

“Among these targeted centers was one of our own. A Jewish community center in Cherry Hill was forced to evacuate due to a bomb threat.

“As chair of the Assembly Homeland Security and Preparedness Committee, I believe we have an obligation to ensure that they have personnel on-site who can prevent and protect New Jersey residents from acts of targeted violence. I am glad to see it moving through the legislature.”
