(Union) – Assemblywoman Annette Quijano issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Senate inaction on important gun control legislation:
“It seems that every few months our nation faces some inexplicable tragedy that in ways seems more devastating than the last one. In less than seven months, the nation has mourned for the theater patrons in Aurora, Colorado, and the students and teachers of Newtown, Connecticut. Gun violence is real and becoming more prevalent in our society.
“Enough has to be enough. Our country needs tougher gun legislation. Yesterday’s inaction was a step in the wrong direction. It is my hope that those who voted against the bill realize quickly the need to strengthen protection of our communities, our families and our country and act appropriately.”
