Quijano Praises Menendez Initiative to Help Jersey Residents Recover from Sandy, Urges Congress to Act Swiftly

Assembly Homeland Security and State Preparedness Committee Chair Annette Quijano (D-Union) on Tuesday praised the new comprehensive legislative package put forth by U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Chuck Schumer to aid in the recovery for victims of Superstorm Sandy and urged Congress to support the initiative for the greater good of the region.

“I want to thank Senators Menendez and Schumer for putting forth this broad legislative initiative geared towards providing relief and recovery assistance to the millions of residents saddled with the arduous task of picking up the pieces left behind by Sandy.

“This will be no small feat, but if passed, these bills would provide a huge boost to residents, businesses and municipalities alike. Rebuilding is of the urgency, particularly for our devastated shore towns where the majority of the economy is driven by tourism revenue.

“I urge Congress to act swiftly to pass this package to help us rebuild the East Coast in a stronger, smarter fashion so that we are better equipped to weather future storms,” said Quijano.
