Quijano Statement on Gov. Christie’s Proposal to Raid Horizon’s Reserves

(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Annette Quijano (D-Union) issued the following statement Friday concerning Gov. Christie’s plan to raid Horizon’s reserves:

“Governor Christie’s latest proposal to allow DOBI Commissioners to annually raid Horizon’s reserves is not a good idea. As the largest health insurance provider in the Garden State, Horizon’s strong bond rating is important to keeping the cost of healthcare from rising for millions of New Jersey residents, and forcing them to use their reserves will drive up costs for all of us as they face an already unstable health insurance market due to Republican attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Governor Christie has done enough damage to New Jersey’s credit ratings and should think twice before leading Horizon in the same direction.”
