Riley: Dialogue Must Continue to Weight Merits of UMDNJ Committee Merger Recommendations

(NEWARK) — Assembly Higher Education Committee Chair Celeste M. Riley (D-Cumberland/Gloucester/Salem) released the following statement Tuesday after hearing testimony regarding the recommendations submitted to the Governor in the final report of the UMDNJ Committee:

“The input we heard today was valuable, and will help guide us as we consider the merits of these recommendations and their impact on our students and educational institutions.

“The proposed plan presented by the UMDNJ Advisory Committee affects several communities, and I look forward to hearing more from them and addressing their concerns.

“This is a significant proposal on an issue of importance to many communities. We want to make sure we do it right. As chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, I’m committed to getting answers. At the end, we all want what is best for our students, our schools and our state.”
