Riley Statement on Higher Education Merger Hearing at Rowan University

(GLASSBORO) – Assemblywoman Celeste Riley (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland), the chairwoman of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, released the following statement Monday following the second joint hearing with the Senate on the proposed merger of Rowan University and Rutgers-Camden:

“The enormity of this issue has inspired impassioned debate on both sides, and understandably so.
“These hearings have been extremely insightful in helping us gain an understanding of the needs and concerns of both the higher education community and the South Jersey region. Ultimately, we need to find a way to balance those needs with the ultimate goal of creating better opportunities for everyone.
“As we move forward, we must continue to do our due diligence to examine all of the information available to make the most informed decision.”
