Assemblyman Gary S. Schaer (D-Bergen/Passaic) lent his support to Speaker Vincent Prieto on Thursday in calling for a solution to Atlantic City’s fiscal crisis that protects working families.
“I join with my colleagues in the General Assembly in support of Speaker Prieto and the position which he has championed to protect working families, and the most fundamental Democratic right to be represented by locally elected officials. Virtually every time the state has taken over the finances of local school boards or municipal governments, it has not been the panacea promised by its supporters.
“There are names and faces of working class families that are impacted by the governor’s ill thought solution to Atlantic City’s problems. I look forward to be working with the Speaker and my Assembly colleagues in crafting a meaningful and long-term solution to Atlantic City’s issues,” said Schaer.
