Schaer Reappointed to Assembly Budget Committee Helm

(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto has once again tapped Assemblyman Gary Schaer to helm the Assembly Budget Committee for the 217th Legislature.

“Assemblyman Schaer has demonstrated the right balance of finesse and fortitude during his time as budget chair, and we are happy to have him serve again,” said Prieto (D-Bergen/Hudson). “I am confident that he will continue to steer this committee in the right direction so we are able to meet the needs of our working and middle-class families while striving for fiscal integrity and prudence.”

Schaer has been a member of the Assembly Budget Committee for ten years and previously served as the committee’s Vice Chair.

“It has been an honor to serve the Assembly in this capacity and a bigger honor to be trusted again with this formidable responsibility,” said Schaer (D-Bergen/Passaic). “New Jersey’s working families depend on us to make prudent and morally responsible decisions on their behalf. I will continue to honor the confidence placed in me by the Speaker by working closely with my colleagues to meet our fiscal obligations while protecting the interests of all New Jerseyans.”

Schaer has been a member of the Assembly since 2006, representing the 36th legislative district, which covers parts of Bergen and Passaic counties.
