SCHAER: SACRIFICE MUST BE SHARED

(TRENTON) — Assembly Budget Vice Chairman Gary Schaer (D-Passaic/Bergen/Essex) on Wednesday released the following statement as the Assembly Budget Committee heard testimony from the state treasurer on Gov. Chris Christie’s budget plan:

“Our state faces an imposing deficit for the coming fiscal year.

“Unfortunately, many services we have historically depended upon will have to be reduced or eliminated, but this sacrifice should be shared among New Jerseyans.

“The governor’s proposal will reaffirm policies that have created an unprecedented wealth gap in the United States.

“Today’s testimony shows that Gov. Christie believes policies that favor the rich are good for New Jersey.

“I strongly disagree.”
