Assemblyman Gary Schaer will be presenting a Ceremonial Resolution to the students and administration of St. Mary’s High School in Rutherford, NJ for their civic activism. Last week, students from St. Mary’s participated in a student led walk out in response to the tragic school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Principal Tara Brunt spoke with the entire student body on the matter during a morning assembly and encouraged students to participate in the walk out if they wished. The administration also opened the church for 17 minutes of silent prayer for the victims. Assemblyman Schaer would like to honor both the students for their civic activism and the administration for their encouragement of the students.
