Senate President Nicholas P. Scutari (D-Union) and Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin (D-Middlesex) issued the following joint statement:
“We fundamentally support a woman’s right to choose.
“Fearing the worst and knowing the profoundly adverse consequences of Roe v. Wade being overturned, our Legislature acted decisively in January to guarantee a woman’s right to choose in New Jersey under the Freedom of Reproductive Choice Act.
“Turning back the clock is not the New Jersey way and by codifying 50 years of legal precedent into state law, we have made sure that a woman’s health decisions can and will remain her own. Together we stand by our decisive action, agreeing that Trump’s appointees to the Court are radically anti-democratic, and will continue working to protect access and ensure no woman is stripped of her right to choose.”
