Singleton on Christie’s Lack of Leadership on TTF

Assemblyman Troy Singleton (D-Burlington), who raised alarms during yesterday’s Assembly Budget Committee hearing on the dearth of ideas from Gov. Christie as New Jersey’s Transportation Trust Fund (TTF) inches closer to going broke, released the following statement on Wednesday:

“The Governor’s comments today about the Transportation Trust Fund are the clearest example we have, to date, that he’s given up on addressing this crisis.

“Not only does he not seem alarmed that this critical funding source is about to go bankrupt this summer, but he appears to have abdicated all responsibility for restoring it.

“It seems the height of irony for him to tell the legislature to show some leadership on this issue when every governor for roughly the last 20 years, including himself in 2011, has presented plans for the TTF. This is akin to Captain Smith from the Titanic preaching nautical safety.”
