Singleton to Celebrate Firefighter Appreciation Day by Spending a ‘Day in the Life’ of Willingboro Firefighters

(DELRAN) – In a lead up to Firefighter Appreciation Day, Assemblyman Troy Singleton (D-Burlington) will spend September 10th riding along with the Willingboro Fire Department to get a first-hand glimpse of the daily sacrifices made by some of New Jersey’s bravest.
“Until we’ve seen it ourselves, I don’t think anyone, minus a family member, can truly appreciate the sacrifices made day in and day out by our firefighters,” said Singleton who grew up in Willingboro. “To sign up for a career that requires a lifetime of self-sacrifice is heroic, to say the least. I want to have a better understanding of what these heroes do day in and day out and how we can better equip them to protect themselves and all those they serve.”
Singleton will report to the Willingboro Fire Department, located at 398 Charleston Road in Willingboro Township, NJ at 4pm on Monday, September 10, 2012.
Upon arrival, he will first meet and greet the roughly half a dozen firefighters on duty and listen to their personal accounts of their job descriptions and responsibilities. Should any calls come in, Singleton will accompany the firefighters on duty.
Captain Doug Ramsey will be the ranking firefighter on duty during Singleton’s visit. To learn more about the Willingboro Fire Department, please visit: http://www.willingborofire.org/.
