Speaker Coughlin Names Assemblywoman Park as Chair of Judiciary Committee

TRENTON (January 23, 2024) —Speaker Craig J. Coughlin has named Assemblywoman Ellen Park as the Assembly Judiciary Committee chair for the 221st legislative session.

“Chairwoman Park is an accomplished attorney who demonstrated legislative acumen and leadership skills in her first term,” said Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-Middlesex). “She will be an effective and fair-minded Chair of this key committee.”

The Assembly Judiciary committee oversees legislation dealing with capital punishment, civil justice, civil rights, court administration, and the overall judicial system.

“I could not be more honored or more excited to chair the New Jersey State Assembly Judiciary Committee. As a lawyer, I truly understand the importance of the legislation that will move through our agendas and I’m grateful to Speaker Coughlin for entrusting such an important post to my leadership. I look forward to tackling issues of gun safety, criminal justice reform, and bolstering our protections against discrimination,” said Assemblywoman Park (D-Bergen).

Park, who also serves as Parliamentarian, has been a member of the General Assembly since 2022.
