TRENTON (January 26, 2024) —Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin has named Assemblyman Clinton Calabrese as chair of the Assembly Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee in the new legislative session.
The Committee will oversee various aspects of state transportation, such as the construction of bridges and highways, motor vehicle inspections, expansion of light-rail systems, and the administration of toll road authorities.
“Chairman Calabrese has served with boundless energy and fresh ideas, which will serve him and our state well in this new role,” said Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-Middlesex). “Transportation infrastructure and maintenance is essential to our economy, allowing our state to take advantage of our strategic location serving countless industries. I know he will work well with all stakeholders in tackling the transportation needs of New Jersey.”
“Roads and rails are vital to New Jersey, as our residents travel to work, home and the beach, and we plan to craft legislation that will continue to build out a robust and efficient transportation network,” said Assemblyman Calabrese (D-Bergen, Passaic). “I look forward to working with the members of this Committee over the next two years to ensure the smooth functioning and development of crucial infrastructure, benefiting communities and citizens alike.”
In this session, Calabrese also serves as Deputy Whip and vice chair of the Assembly Tourism, Gaming and the Arts Committee. He has been a member of the General Assembly since 2018.
