Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-Middlesex) released the following statement today on the passing of New Jersey State Police and Red Bank Monsignor Phillip Lowery:
“New Jersey lost an important mentor yesterday with the passing of Monsignor Lowery. As leader of St. James Church and its schools in Red Bank, he offered invaluable guidance to all those who sought it.
“Monsignor Lowery also provided much-needed support to state troopers and their families as chaplain for the New Jersey State Police, and selflessly offered his service to Ground Zero rescue workers during a time of turmoil and confusion.
“His compassion and wisdom will be remembered by the people and communities he touched.”
