Speaker Coughlin (D-Middlesex) issued the following statement in response to the active shooter situation that unfolded Tuesday afternoon in Jersey City:
“My heart goes out to the family and friends of the officer and civilians tragically killed today. I pray for the full recovery of those injured and all those affected by this senseless act of violence. The selfless bravery of all those who put their lives on the line today will not be forgotten.
“I commend the hard work of law enforcement, all first responders and local officials who acted swiftly to defend and protect our residents from this threat. We are very fortunate that as a result of the effective response by schools, all children in the area are safe and accounted for.”
