Speaker Coughlin Statement on One-Year Anniversary of George’s Floyd’s Murder

(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin (D-Middlesex) issued the following statement Tuesday on the one-year anniversary of George Floyd’s death:

“George Floyd was tragically murdered in Minneapolis, Minnesota one year ago today. The video of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on Mr. Floyd’s neck for 9 minutes, 29 seconds leading to his death horrified the nation and left the Floyd family mourning to this day.

“Since Mr. Floyd’s murder, too many Americans have died as a result of encounters with law enforcement. We must continue to work to end that.

“My prayers go out to Mr. Floyd, his family and his many friends on the anniversary of his death. We will continue to push to make New Jersey a more equitable and just place to live.”
