Speaker Coughlin Statement on Passage of Inflation Reduction Act by Congress

(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin (D-Middlesex) issued the following statement in response to Congress passing the Inflation Reduction Act on Friday, sending the legislation to President Biden’s desk:

“The Inflation Reduction Act will meet the needs of millions of Americans by offering critical economic relief to those who need it most. I applaud the House and Senate for passing this legislation.

“At a time when working and middle-class family budgets are being stretched, reducing the deficit and lowering the cost of necessities like health care and energy will have a real impact on New Jersey residents. Making clean energy options that power our homes and cars more accessible and affordable, the bill empowers everyday folks and marks the single largest climate investment in our nation’s history.

“I want to thank New Jersey’s Congressional delegation who supported the Inflation Reduction Act. Combined with our efforts in Trenton to make New Jersey a healthier and more affordable place to live, this legislation ensures residents will see much-needed relief.”
