Speaker Coughlin Statement on Passage of the Federal American Rescue Plan

Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-Middlesex) issued the following statement Tuesday regarding final passage of President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act of 2021:

“Passage of the American Rescue Plan is a win for the people of the United States and New Jersey’s nine million residents. The President’s ambitious plan will provide a desperately needed boost to our economy that has been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I thank New Jersey’s congressional delegation for supporting this landmark legislation and enabling the recovery of the State’s economy through both aid for our small businesses and funds to expedite the delivery of COVID-19 vaccines.
“Ensuring another round of stimulus checks to those who most need the assistance will help families pay their utilities, keep a roof over their heads, and put food on the table.
“The federal funds for our State, municipalities, and schools are welcome to preserve government jobs and services, as are the extended unemployment benefits included in the Plan.
I am pleased the Biden Administration stepped up and put the needs of the American people above all else.”
