Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-Middlesex) issued the following statement Saturday congratulating President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris on their hard-fought victory:
“Congratulations to President-Elect Biden and Vice President-Elect Harris on their well-deserved victory. Thank you to everyone who cast a ballot in this year’s historic elections.
“Joe Biden is a respected leader who will restore dignity and integrity to the office of President of the United States. He will send a clear signal to our allies around the world that America stands by them.
“Kamala Harris has distinguished herself admirably as District Attorney of San Francisco, California Attorney General and as a United States Senator from the State of California. Kamala now makes history as the first woman and first person of color elected as our Vice President.
“Joe and Kamala will unite our country, eliminate the hateful rhetoric coming out of the White House and end the era of leading by tweet.
