(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-Middlesex) released the following statement Thursday on the passing of Robert C. Sweeney, Senate President Steve Sweeney’s father:
“I was saddened to hear of the passing of Robert Sweeney.
“Robert was a champion of organized labor, working as vice-president of the New Jersey AFL-CIO and as the President & Business Manager of Local 399. His commitment to the working men and women of our state was certainly passed onto Steve and his family. His hard work and dedication to New Jersey and the labor movement will not be forgotten. Robert was a great example to us all.
“On behalf of the New Jersey General Assembly, I send our thoughts and prayers to the Sweeney family at this difficult time.”
