SPEAKER OLIVER APPOINTS CONNIE WAGNER TO POST OF DEPUTY SPEAKER

Assembly Speaker Sheila Y. Oliver has announced the appointment of Assemblywoman Connie Wagner to the post of Deputy Speaker of the General Assembly.

“Since being elected to the Assembly, Connie Wagner has demonstrated a tremendous commitment both to her constituents and the people of New Jersey as a whole,” said Oliver (D-Essex/Passaic). “She will, no doubt, do a fine job serving in this leadership capacity.”

“I am honored by the confidence the Speaker has shown in me,” said Wagner (D-Bergen). “I look forward to serving as part of the leadership team that is focused on creating jobs and growing our economy out of this recession.”

Wagner was first elected to the General Assembly in November of 2007 to represent the 38th Legislative District in Bergen County. She currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee and also sits on both the Human Services and the Transportation, Public Works and Independent Authorities committees.

Wagner will fill the post left vacant by the departures of Frederick Scalera and Linda Greenstein. Her appointment takes effect immediately.
