Speaker Oliver: Christie Wastes Taxpayer Money & Puts His Own Self-Interest First

(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Sheila Y. Oliver (D-Essex/Passaic) released the following statement Tuesday on Gov. Christie’s decision to hold a special U.S. Senate election on Oct. 16 rather than on the already-scheduled Nov. 5 general election:

“I’m very disappointed the governor has chosen to be so transparently political and waste taxpayer money on a special October election.
“The November general election date is what’s best for taxpayers and voter turn-out. It’s unquestionably the best option, but Gov. Christie has chosen to put partisan politics and his self-interest first.”
