Speaker Prieto: Assembly to Convene Monday to Consider Tax Relief for Working Families

Christie Embraces a Top Democratic Priority & Progressive Tax Policy

(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto (D-Hudson/Bergen) on Friday announced the Assembly will convene Monday to – after repeated obstructions by Gov. Christie – advance legislation to increase the state’s Earned Income Tax Credit.
The voting session is scheduled for 10 a.m. The Assembly will consider only the bill to boost the Earned Income Tax Credit for working families.
Prieto released the following statement:

“It’s disappointing that Gov. Christie continues to coddle the uber rich, but at least he’s finally cleared the way for reversing his brutal tax increase on hard-working families. Gov. Christie has embraced a top Democratic priority and progressive tax policy, so that’s a step forward.
“Democrats have long sought to boost this tax credit and help nearly 500,000 New Jersey families. Many families have been hurt needlessly by this governor, but Democrats will finally deliver them the tax relief they need.”
