Speaker Prieto: Gov. Christie Should Judge His Own Performance

(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto (D-Hudson/Bergen) released the following statement Monday on recent comments from Gov. Christie about Assembly activity:

“Gov. Christie has spent most of his time this year in other states trying to run for another office. He should judge his own performance before he casts aspersions.
“Legislators work every day, no matter whether they’re in Trenton. Some of the most important work done by legislators relates to bill development and constituent services handled out of the district offices, where an untold number of important – and often very personal – issues are handled for residents each and every day.
“Meanwhile, in fact, dozens upon dozens of our bills sit on the governor’s desk without action.
“Gov. Christie knows where and how to find me, but perhaps cell phone reception isn’t that great in Iowa and New Hampshire.”
