(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto (D-Hudson/Bergen) released the following statement Monday on Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2014:
“On this and all Martin Luther King Jr. Days, we pause to reflect upon a great man and his dream of equality for all.
“New Jersey is one of the nation’s great tapestries, full of diversity and cultures that blend together to make this state a great place to live. New Jersey can be the embodiment of Dr. King’s dream, but as in all places, we know we have more work to do. Fulfilling the dream of Dr. King, after all, should be a constant endeavor, not just something we think about one day a year.
“I urge New Jerseyans today to resolve to re-double their efforts to make our state an even greater place to live, to focus on community service each and every day and to remember these words from Dr. King when they contemplate the job at hand, ‘Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle.’ “
